Biography;
Born in Memphis, raised in rural Mississippi,
Gordon began painting with his Grandmother at age 10. He pursued his musical interest in the local marching band and church choir. At age 14 he was awarded Eagle Scout. In High School, Ron was the editor of the school yearbook while serving as an officer of several clubs and organizations.
Working his way through college, he earned an Associate of Arts and BFA degrees. Ron was awarded a fellowship and earned an additional 28 quarter hours toward an MED in Art Education from The University of Southern Mississippi.
Ron left the South for three years to teach Art and Photography in Saginaw Michigan; married in 1978 and returned to USM to pursue completion of his Masters Degree.
The Artist arrived in Houston in Feb. of 79 to start a family and a new career as a graphic artist and illustrator. He free-lanced for oil and engineering companies in the Houston area over the next six years.
Ron entered the ministry in 1986 and was the principal of a private Christian Academy for the following 10 years. He resigned from the school in '96 and became a full time professional artist again in '98.
His marriage of 24 years ended in the fall of 2002. He has four grown children and one grandson. Ron now lives and studios in the warehouse district of downtown Houston Texas.
