PRESENTATION
The geometric abstractionism is an artistic movement started in Holland in 1917. The artists interpret the mystery and the order of universe and space following a rigid and strict artistic and geometric norm. As a matter of fact, Neoplastic works are characterized by the presence of simple elements such as lines and squares which are presented with primary colours. This concept of order and clarity derives from the philosophical thoughts of the period. The neoplastic movement does not last for a long period and among the topics of contemporary art it is one that is not studied in depth. It is often and wrongly considered as a difficult or purely decorative genre by the majority of the viewers who do not take into consideration the work of artists who apply the definition of a language that, free from the label of the contents common to all arts, is resolved in a pure visual balance, able to affect positively the social life. Art is seen in accordance with the artist’s intention. The shape is considered the result of the encounter between man and the world, in a cohabitation between visible truth and hidden truth. The last one being seen as a denial of the truth and abstracted from it. The fundamental characteristics of the geometric abstractionism can be summarised in the following few rules: Abolition of the third dimension; Independence from the emotional values.
