Marilena Bergamini is a multi faceted artist who freely spans from design to painting to sculpting. As a painter and graphic designer she has exhibited in various art galleries in Italy and abroad since 1980. She has graduated in ceramics from the Istituto d’Arte of Castellamonte and also took part in courses taught at the Faculty of Achitecture of the Turin Polytechnic. She is the only Italian artist who has won the INAX DESIGN PRIZE, prestigious international ceramics sculpture design prize. As a guest artist she has spent three months at the Tokoname Inax Craft Studio in Japan perfecting design techniques and carrying out research in the field of industrial art design. She has exhibited at Tokio, Hokkaido and Tokoname. She created a collection of special pieces for flooring and swimming pool and design objects which are characterized by an exclusive modular shape and an innovative processing technique: the works are now manufactured by SIRE, the leading Italian klinker producer. The products of this collaboration were on show at this year's CERSAIE fair. She participates to the International Ceramics Exposition at Carouge (Geneva, Switzerland), and at Ceramics Museum of Sarraguemines (France). Her pieces will be shown at the National Museum of Game (La Tour-de-Peliz, Switzerland). Her industrial and architectural design research has now branched out into two main fields.
